What makes us different?
With more than a decade of experience in private event planning, we understand how opaque and complicated venue booking can be. Our approach is simple: clear information, transparent pricing, and a straightforward process. When collaborating with Primitive Events, clients will know exactly what to expect from the start.
What types of events can be hosted at The Archive and Flagship?
We accommodate a wide range of events including weddings, corporate meetings, private dinners, brand and product introductions, photo/video shoots, and social gatherings.
What is the capacity of the spaces?
The Archive can accommodate up to 300 guests; 200 for a seated dinner. Primitive’s Flagship Store can accommodate up to 200, while The Buddha Room can seat up to 26 for dinner.
Where are the venues located? Is there parking nearby?
The Archive is located at 329 W 18th St in Chicago, on the 10th floor of the Design at 329 Building. There is free indoor and outdoor parking, and valet parking is available. The Primitive Flagship Store is located at 130 N Jefferson, also in Chicago. There is street parking and valet parking is also available.

What is included in the rental fee?
The Archive: 7,000 sq ft main room connected to 17,000 sq ft warehouse/showroom, onsite day-of coordinator, security, elevator operator, catering kitchen access, and VIP green room.
Primitive Flagship Store: 25,000 sq ft internationally recognized store containing multiple venues inside
What is required to secure a date?
To secure a date, a 50% deposit is required, a portion of which is non-refundable. If an event is canceled more than 90 days in advance, up to 25% of the initial deposit may be refunded.
Do you offer hourly or full-day rentals?
We primarily offer full-day rentals to allow for setup and breakdown. Shorter rental periods may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
Do you have preferred or required vendors?
We do not require the use of specific vendors; however, working with one of our preferred partners may qualify for a reduced rental rate.
Is catering allowed?
Yes. Both The Archive and Primitive Flagship allow catering. The Archive features a spacious on-site catering kitchen to support a wide range of service needs.
Can alcohol be served?
Yes. Both The Archive and Primitive HQ offer flexible bar options, including BYOB, service through a licensed caterer, or a bar provided by Primitive Events— available as either a hosted buyout or cash/credit bar.
Is the space customizable?
Yes, both The Archive and Primitive HQ can be customized to your event needs.
What is the setup and breakdown time?
Venue rentals at both The Archive and Primitive HQ allow for load-in beginning at 12 PM, with full breakdown and vacating by midnight. For hourly rentals, setup and breakdown time must be included within the booked hours.
Is staff included onsite?
Yes. One onsite coordinator will be present for the full setup and breakdown. Depending on the size of your event or the number of guests, we may bring on additional staff.
Do you provide tables, chairs, or rentals?
At The Archive, we do not currently provide tables, chairs, or additional rentals.
At Primitive HQ, a dining table and chairs can be provided for up to ___ guests. Plateware, cutlery, glassware, and additional rentals can be arranged as needed.
Is there AV equipment available?
No. AV equipment is not currently provided at either Primitive HQ or The Archive. Both spaces can accommodate rented equipment as needed.
What are your cancellation policies?
